Immunization Resources
Immunization Update Home-Study CPE Available
Are you a pharmacist who administers or promotes immunizations to your patients? Although Ohio law does not require continuing education for immunizations, it is important for immunizing pharmacists to be aware of the latest vaccine recommendations from CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). OPA recently released a home-study continuing pharmacy education (CPE) article to keep you up-to-date with the latest information on recommended vaccines and immunization schedules. Vaccine-Preventable Diseases: Overview and Recommended Immunizations provides background information on immunology and vaccine-preventable diseases, and current information on influenza, pneumococcal, hepatitis A & B, meningococcal, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, varicella, herpes zoster, measles, mumps, rubella, Haemophilus influenzae Type b (Hib), polio, and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. This article provides 5 contact hours (0.5 CEU) of CPE credit for pharmacists and is a component of the OPF Pharmacist Training Program for Immunizations.
