What excites you about working with students?
What excites me most about working with students is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships. As a younger pharmacist, I find it easier to relate to students and understand their experiences. This relatability fosters trust and creates a supportive environment for their development.
Tell me about your practice site and any challenges faced there.
My practice site is The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, primarily within the James Cancer Center and the Ross Heart Hospital. One of the challenges I face is staying current with therapeutics that I don't encounter frequently. To address this, I stay informed by reading the latest news and attending relevant conferences.
What advice do you have for new practitioners transitioning from their P4 year?
Keep an open mind! You'll encounter many new opportunities, so be willing to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Also, don't be discouraged if your plans don't unfold as expected. There are numerous paths to achieving your goals, even if they aren't immediately apparent.
Where is your hometown, and what are your recommendations for a day trip there?
My hometown is Fort Thomas, KY, in the Greater Cincinnati Area. For a perfect day trip, I recommend a red bike ride through the city and along the bridges, with plenty of stops along the Ohio River. Don't miss out on dinner at Skyline Chili, followed by dessert at Graeter's. If you have time, catching a sports game—whether it's the Reds, Bengals, or Cyclones—would be a fantastic bonus!
