Hometown Highlights: Marengo

 

Thirty miles north of Columbus is Marengo, OH, is a charming rural community with naturally beautiful rolling hills and fields. Life here is a perfect blend of small-town and outdoor adventure, with Columbus only a short trek down 71.

 

One of the town’s highlights is Hoof Hearted Brewing, a beloved local craft brewery. Every Thursday night, it’s the go-to spot for trivia, where locals gather to see who will be the week’s champion. With the brewery offering an outside wooded trail, it offers a unique combination of community and serenity, all while enjoying a pint.

 

For my wife, Robin, and I, life in Marengo is all about the time outdoors. With several acres of land, our dogs love exploring the fields and woods, where they often encounter deer, turkeys, and a never-ending parade of squirrels. I can never keep from smiling when I see them run around our fields with our heifers.

 

Mornings and evenings are my favorite out here in the country. There’s something amazing about watching the sun rise or set over the fields while enjoying a cup of coffee.

 

Marengo may be small, but it’s rich in community spirit and beauty. Whether it’s enjoying a pint at Hoof Hearted or soaking in the charm of the countryside, there’s always something to love about this corner of Ohio.
