Emily Eddy Recognized as UNDER 40 Award Recipient

2021 UNDER 40 Award Recipient
Emily Eddy, R.Ph., PharmD

The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) announced that Emily Eddy, R.Ph., PharmD of Dublin, Ohio was honored with a 2021 UNDER 40 Recognition Award for leadership, excellence, and vision in the practice of pharmacy at its 143rd Annual Conference held April 16-18.

Eddy is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Ohio Northern University (ONU), where she is also coordinator of the Rural and Underserved Scholars program, which she and another faculty member developed and created to teach pharmacy students to care for patients in rural and underserved areas. Eddy is dedicated to advancing the profession and the practice of pharmacy in Ohio. She has served as a member-at-large for OPA’s New Practitioner Experience Committee, and chairs OPA’s Public Relations Committee. Nationally, she serves on the Care of Underserved Patients Special Interest Group for the American Pharmacists Association. Eddy also volunteers at Grace Clinics of Ohio. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 residency in an ambulatory care setting at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.

Emily's response when asked Why do you belong to OPA? Having gone to pharmacy school outside of Ohio, one of the great benefits of being an OPA member has been the connections I have been able to make. Through the NPX Experience, the Public and Professional Relations Committee, and attending the meetings I have been able to meet with and connect professionally with many amazing pharmacists. These connections have made it possible for me to create my professional network here in Ohio. These connections have been invaluable in shaping my career and helping me grow professionally.

“We are pleased to recognize Emily Eddy who has exemplified leadership, excellence, and vision in her practice. She has been a valued member of the Association, and we look forward to her future contributions to the profession of pharmacy,” said Ernest Boyd, OPA Executive Director.

OPA, established in 1879, represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state. It is OPA’s mission to unite the profession of pharmacy and encourage interprofessional relations, while promoting public health through education, discussion, and legislation.
