The vaccine allocation has now expanded to Phase 1D and Phase 2B of Governor DeWine’s vaccine rollout plan. This week’s distribution efforts focus on individuals with medical conditions that increase the risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19, such as type 2 diabetes and end-stage renal disease. Additionally, individuals over the age of 50 are included in this phase. Individuals over the age of 60 and those previously eligible continue to be appropriate candidates for the vaccine.
COVID-19 Vaccines Available and Second Dose Alert
As vaccine availability increases, it is crucial to ensure that patients are receiving the correct vaccine.
The CDC-provided vaccine card can also provide an additional form of verification of the manufacturer and dose administered.
CDC Guidelines for Fully Vaccinated Individuals
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has provided recommendations on activities for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated individuals can meet with other fully vaccinated individuals indoors without being masked. Additionally, individuals do not need to quarantine if they are exposed to COVID-19 positive patients if they do not exhibit symptoms. ODH cautions fully vaccinated individuals to continue to wear a mask and socially distance when in public and visiting unvaccinated people from other households or those who are at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
Stories of COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts
OPA seeks to highlight the fantastic work of our members in the fight against COVID-19 through vaccination efforts. If you have a story or pictures to share, we would like to showcase them to the rest of the membership. Please send your stories and photographs to Jessica Wotruba at jwotruba@ohiopharmacists.org.
OPA is working diligently to facilitate communication between state decision-makers and member pharmacists. OPA has created multiple COVID-19 resources, including a COVID-19 Vaccine Information Webpage, COVID-19 Testing Hub, and COVID-19 Resources Webpage, on the OPA website www.ohiopharmacists.org under the Resources drop-down box.
