Frank Wickham receives OPA Life Member Award for outstanding contributions to pharmacy

The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) announced that Frank Wickham, R.Ph., MS, PharmD (Hon) of Columbus, Ohio is recipient of a Life Member Award for distinguished and long term service to the profession of pharmacy and to OPA. The award was presented at the OPA 140th Annual Conference April 20-22 in Columbus.

Wickham served 30 years with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and as Executive Director from 1977 to 1998. He was a member of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy where he served as president 1997-1998.

Wickham authored jurisprudence home-study continuing education articles for the Ohio Pharmacists Association for many years, and has been serving as an active member of OPA's Legal & Regulatory Committee. He has taught pharmacy law at the University of Cincinnati, The Ohio State University, and Ohio Northern University where he served as Director of their Pharmacy Law Institute from 1999 to 2006.

Wickham earned his pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy and his MS in pharmacology from the University of Kansas.  In 1997, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University where he was also recognized with a Distinguished Alumni Award.

“It is an easy task to recognize the outstanding contributions to pharmacy of Frank Wickham. His dedication to the profession is evident through his many years of involvement with OPA, the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and Ohio Northern University,” said Ernest Boyd, OPA Executive Director.

OPA, established in 1879, represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state. It is OPA’s mission to unite the profession of pharmacy and encourage interprofessional relations, while promoting public health through education, discussion, and legislation.
